Love Them For Who They Are

This can be used for any fandom, but I made it with Harry Potter in mind Specifically Severus Snape.

Now, before you bash me, I LOVE Severus Snape. But, only as a character. As a person, I dislike him, but I won't get into that, we all have our own opinions.

However, there are so many people out there who "fanonify" Snape to a sickening extent, giving him luscious locks and rippling abs and god knows what else. Also, they make him out to be this poor little puppy who is constantly kicked by the marauders and ordered by Lily.

Now that really bugs me, when people say Lily is a bitch for how she treated Snape. For what? For being friend with him when no one would. For defending him from the marauders? For trying her hardest to pull him out of the Dark Arts? And Snape couldn't even defend her from his cronies in Slytherin. He loved her that's for sure, but it was his choices and faults that led to his downfall not Lily's. Like my friend said:

"Snape grew into something terrible because he love the idea of being strong with power that Voldemort had. It was only later that Snape changed into a good character. I understand why people love him, but Lily isn't involved at all in Snape's downfall. In fact, she was one of Snape's only decent friends, but HE pushed her away and fell to darkness, when she was trying her best to pull him out. It was SNAPE'S choice, one of JKR's main themes: Choices."
